David :)

you ni narimashita … “has become able to” in Japanese

by DavidM on December 26, 2007
in Grammar

Hey everyone.

I’ve got another great lesson for you today.

If you want to take your Japanese skills to the next level, you need to check out Rocket Japanese here: http://www.thejapaneseproject.com/rocket

Imagine in English we can say:

“I have become able to speak Japanese”

In Japanese we can say:

nihon go ga wakaru you ni narimashita

The formula you should use is:

SUBJECT ga DICTIONARY VERB you ni narimashita

nihongo  Japanese

ga  subject marking particle

wakaru  dictionary form of verb “to understand”

you ni narimashita  have become able to

Another example:

shiken ga dekiru you ni narimashita

I have become able to do the test

That’s all for this lesson.

Cheers
David
